About

WELCOME ABOARD !!!

If you love trains, traveling on trains, watching trains, photographing trains  or train history and trivia, then Hartford RRE is for you.

You found the home of the Hartford Division of the Railroad Enthusiasts (HRRE).  The Railroad Enthusiasts Inc. is the national organization for our Greater Hartford, CT Division. Our chapter started on May 9, 1937.   The HRRE is a non-profit group of railroad buffs.  Our members are both young (age 11) and old (we won’t say), male and female, who have a common interest in any conveyance that runs on steel wheels and rails.

Since the railroad hobby has a wide range and scope, our members gather monthly (click here for directions).  The meetings feature slideshows, videos, presentations and discussions about steam, diesel and electric traction.  Other aspects of railroading both historical and current are also presented.  These include, but are not limited to, safety, signaling, dispatching and maintenance.  The group occasionally sponsors excursions to nearby rail-oriented sites.  Read all about it in our newsletter, the Green Board. We even have included some of our favorite links and resources for you.

Many of us also like model railroading.  However, one difference you will find with our club is that we do not build or model railroads as a club.  We are truly a railfan club. If you have  interest  in the rail industry, please feel free to attend one of our meetings and get to know us.  Please Contact Us. We hope to see you soon!

OTHER ACTIVE DIVISIONS

There are four other active divisions in Railroad Enthusiasts Inc. The chapters are Mass Bay (Boston, MA area), Potomac (Washington D.C. area), St. Louis (St Louis, MO area) and Forest City (Cleveland, OH area).
